More Articles Are Now Created by AI Than Humans

AI crossed the line…

This one felt a bit different to write 😬

• The data analysis… Done with ChatGPT.
• The data structuring… Done with ChatGPT.
• The Python config and rendering? Also ChatGPT.
• The draft of this blog post? Yep… ChatGPT again.

So here’s the question: is this an AI article? 🤷🏼‍♂️

The data says we’ve already crossed the line

According to Graphite.io — “More Articles Are Now Created by AI Than Humans” something pretty simple and pretty big happened in late 2024:

More articles on the web were classified as AI-generated than human-written. Not by a huge margin. But enough to flip the balance.

Back in 2020, AI content was barely visible. Just a couple of percent. Then the lines start to move, slowly at first, then very quickly after the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022. Until they met. And crossed.

But here’s the part I keep coming back to

This post exists because of AI.

It helped explore the dataset. It wrote the chart config. It generated the rendering logic. It even helped shape the narrative you’re reading now.

But it didn’t decide the angle, the choice to focus on the crossover or the decision to visualise it this way (rather than ChatGPT’s first config render suggestion)⬇️

I believe, the judgement of what’s interesting still sits with the human.

So… is this an AI article?

It depends how you define it.

If more than half the words or structure came from AI… maybe yes.

If the thinking, framing, and intent came from a human… maybe not.

And that’s probably the real shift behind the data.

It’s no longer AI or human, It’s AI with human.

TL;DR

AI content has crossed 50%. But the more interesting question might be: what even counts as “AI content” anymore?
